Accessibility Statement

The 1 in 31 Connection Autism Summit is built around connection and inclusion. We are committed to making the Summit experience usable by as many people as possible.

Built-in accessibility features

Every page includes a native Accessibility Options button in the upper-right corner. It opens a panel where you can adjust the site to fit your needs. Your choices are saved on your device and stay active as you move between pages:

  • Sensory-friendly calm mode that dims colors and softens motion in one tap
  • Adjustable text size (85% to 150%)
  • High-contrast mode
  • Reduced or paused animations
  • Increased line spacing and letter spacing
  • Underlined links
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible font, designed for low-vision readers
  • Keyboard-navigation help and closed-caption instructions
  • One-click reset of all preferences

Keyboard and screen-reader support

The site can be navigated entirely by keyboard: press Tab to move between links and buttons, Enter or Space to activate them, and Escape to close panels and menus. A "Skip to main content" link appears when you first press Tab on any page. Pages use semantic headings, labeled form fields, and descriptive button names, and the site respects your operating system's reduced-motion preference.

Captions and transcripts

Closed captions are available through the video player when provided by the streaming platform — select the CC button to turn captions on. Chrome users may also enable Live Caption in their browser settings. When session transcripts are available, links to them will be posted on the schedule and panels pages.

Ongoing work and known limitations

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and we test the site regularly, but we do not claim complete conformance. Some content is delivered by third-party platforms — such as the embedded live video player and donation pages — whose accessibility we do not fully control. If something is not working for you, please tell us so we can fix it or provide the content another way.
